This site primarily provides information about the impact TV & films that World Impact Productions creates. However, WIP, through its philanthropic educational platform, also develops public-interest educational media campaigns (specifically in the form of Public Service Campaigns) designed to help audiences better understand important issues, innovations, organizations, technologies, solutions, and topics affecting health, safety, science, medicine, sustainability, families, communities, quality of life, business responsibility, and public awareness.
Breakthroughs™ campaigns are created for one purpose: to inform and educate. They may identify and feature an organization whose work is relevant to the subject being addressed, but the primary purpose of each PSA remains public education and awareness.
So the information on this page describes the important facts about the Breakthroughs™ PSA campaigns and how the process, funding, production and distribution works as compared to our more commercial projects.
This page is the authoritative public description of the Breakthroughs™ PSA Campaigns.
World Impact Productions also develops impact films, documentaries and other public-interest media initiatives. Information concerning those separate projects, historical or legacy initiatives, or other production models should not be applied to Breakthroughs™.
Where a general description of World Impact Productions’ broader work differs from the information presented here, this page governs the structure and operation of the Breakthroughs™ PSA Campaigns.
As stated above, World Impact Productions has broader production work and historical project activity that may be referenced through this site.
The Breakthroughs™ PSA Campaigns and related educational PSA initiatives are presented and administered through the WIP educational platform.
This page is intended to clarify the Breakthroughs™ PSA framework and related WIP-led educational PSA campaigns. It should not be read as a complete description of every film, documentary, philanthropic production, production-team relationship, or separate initiative associated with World Impact Productions, which also produces a wide range of impact films, documentaries and television programs.
Breakthroughs™ is a public-interest PSA (Public Service Announcement) campaign designed to help general audiences and relevant professional communities better understand important advancements in areas such as:
• healthcare and medicine
• biotechnology and life sciences
• patient access and earlier detection
• clean energy and sustainability
• infrastructure and technology
• AI, digital systems, and scientific discovery
• public safety and quality-of-life innovation
• business responsibility and human-impact stories
Each campaign is built around a public-interest story: the problem, the advancement, why it matters, and how better understanding can help audiences, professionals, decision-makers, or communities.
Breakthroughs™ is not a commercial advertising campaign.
It is not a paid media buy.
It is not paid editorial.
It is not a direct-response advertising package.
It is not a sponsored commercial.
It is not an infomercial, paid programming or “pay per play”.
Featured experts/organizations receive meaningful visibility, credibility, public awareness, reputational benefit, and business value through participation and mutual collaboration in a platform and the resulting distribution that is funded by the WIP consortium and not the participating organizations. Those benefits result from inclusion in an educational public-interest PSA campaign as topic experts, not from the purchase of advertising.
Breakthroughs™ is an invitation-only public-service initiative. It is not an open-submission, public enrollment or commercially purchased placement program, and unsolicited applications are not accepted. These are pre-funded PSA’s and cannot be commercially purchased.
World Impact Productions typically identifies only one, single potential participant to illustrate/represent the topic based on the public-interest importance of the subject, the organization’s relevance to the issue and its ability to contribute meaningfully to an accurate educational message.
Access to comprehensive private program information is provided only to organizations specifically invited as guests experts for a particular topic/PSA. An invitation to review the opportunity does not guarantee final inclusion, which remains subject to internal approval, editorial suitability and completion of the applicable Production / Media Authorization.
WIP and its production partners identify and invite a very finite number (typically less than 30 per year) of organizations, experts, companies, innovators, nonprofit groups, public-interest leaders, and/or other participants to appear in or factually contribute to PSA campaigns. Selection may be based on factors such as:
• relevance to the PSA topic
• public-interest value
• credibility within the category
• educational importance
• potential audience benefit
• production suitability
• availability of supporting facts, visuals, data, experts, or stories
• ability to help explain a meaningful advancement responsibly
Participation is not final until approval by the WIP Board of Advisors and the applicable Production / Media Authorization is executed and the campaign moves into active development.
A Breakthroughs™ PSA campaign may include some or all of the following elements, depending on the subject, available assets, campaign structure, review needs, and distribution standards:
• a :60 Public Service Announcement
• a 3–5 minute educational feature segment
• script development and review
• production and/or asset integration
• interviews or remote interviews, when appropriate
• original filming, when included or separately scoped
• post-production editing
• compliance preparation
• closed captioning
• technical formatting
• uplink / delivery preparation
• PR and press-support materials
• digital and targeted media support
• distribution
• post-campaign distribution reporting, where available
The exact creative direction, length, style, deliverables, and distribution approach may vary by campaign.
WIP-led PSA campaigns are supported through a grant-supported, philanthropic, contributed services and partner-supported framework.
Contributing experts/organizations do not pay a production fee, purchase airtime, fund a media buy or pay for editorial inclusion in any way. They are not responsible for costs, including but not limited to:
• PSA and feature-segment production
• post-production and editing
• professional narration and talent participation
• television distribution or broadcast airtime
• standard digital and social-media distribution support
• public-relations and media-distribution support
A company who is not selected and approved cannot purchase acceptance, placement, or editorial treatment. Distribution decisions remain subject to the applicable Production/ Media Authorization, technical requirements, available inventory and the independent review and scheduling discretion of each outlet.
Breakthroughs™ is not a weekly or season-based television program with a single episode schedule. It is a collection of independently developed and distributed public-service campaigns, each addressing a distinct public-interest subject.
Every campaign has its own production timetable, review process, technical requirements, distribution plan and applicable first-run considerations. All include national news and information networks and outlets. PSAs are reviewed and accepted differently than television programs and even commercials. And the networks, stations, affiliates, platforms and other media outlets are contractually confirmed in the final agreement in writing.
For these reasons, a single public episode listing would not accurately represent how the series is produced or distributed. Relevant scheduling, distribution and reporting information is instead provided directly to participating organizations as it applies to them and their demographic targets.
World Impact Productions maintains detailed production timelines, completed campaign samples, campaign-level case studies, sample reporting structures and distribution documentation relating to prior Breakthroughs™ initiatives.
Similarly, WIP identifies the members of its Breakthroughs™ production team by name and role through its official educational portal, and their professional histories are independently verifiable through IMDb and other professional sources. The portal is intentionally access-controlled because the initiative is invitation-only and includes first-run, participant and production-sensitive materials.
These materials are made available to all organizations specifically invited to consider participation, through WIP’s protected educational portal or by direct provision from the production team.
Controlled access helps protect:
• applicable first-run broadcast and distribution rights
• unreleased or distribution-sensitive content
• participating organizations’ materials and information
• confidential media and campaign information
• World Impact Productions’ proprietary production and distribution processes
When appropriate—and after applicable rights, confidentiality requirements and first-run windows have cleared—WIP may make selected public-facing examples or verification materials available.
The protected status of these materials should not be interpreted as an absence of completed work, prior participants, campaign results or supporting documentation. It reflects the rights, confidentiality and operational requirements associated with professionally produced and distributed public-service campaigns. And all those invited to participate have full access to all of that information.
Featured organizations generally have the opportunity to review and approve the initial Review Script before production proceeds.
Featured organizations also generally have the opportunity to review the Review Edit before finalization and distribution for purposes of factual accuracy, messaging alignment, brand comfort, claims sensitivity, and regulatory review where applicable.
Requested revisions should be reasonable, timely, and related to accuracy, compliance, claims, brand usage, or material messaging concerns.
WIP retains final editorial responsibility to ensure the PSA remains suitable for public-interest distribution and consistent with broadcast, legal, production, and PSA standards.
Featured organizations may provide WIP with logos, footage, photographs, product visuals, facility visuals, interviews, testimonials, data, research, documents, case studies, graphics, animations, audio, social media content, or other materials for potential use in a PSA campaign.
By providing materials, the featured organization represents that it has the necessary rights, permissions, consents, releases, licenses, and approvals for WIP to use those materials in connection with the PSA campaign.
This may include, where applicable:
• employee releases
• patient / customer releases
• HIPAA or privacy authorizations
• location releases
• third-party footage or image licenses
• music or media rights
• trademark permissions
• institutional approvals
• clinical or regulatory approvals
WIP may request written confirmation of such permissions where appropriate.
Certain WIP PSA campaigns include nationally recognized or otherwise notable host, narrator, voiceover, or on-camera talent participation.
Any host, narrator, celebrity, or talent appearing in or narrating a PSA participates in the context of public-interest storytelling. Such participation does not constitute a commercial endorsement of the featured organization, its products, services, technologies, claims, or business operations unless expressly agreed in a separate written endorsement agreement.
Similarly, distribution, airing, carriage, acceptance, availability, narration, hosting, or participation in a PSA does not constitute an endorsement by any network, station, affiliate, digital platform, host, narrator, celebrity, production partner, media partner, distributor, or vendor.
Unless expressly stated otherwise in writing, WIP retains ownership of the PSA content, editorial structure, scripts, production materials, project files, master files, distribution versions, creative work product, and associated intellectual property developed by WIP or its partners.
The featured organization retains ownership of its pre-existing trademarks, logos, approved footage, product assets, proprietary materials, and materials supplied to WIP.
Upon completion and delivery of final PSA assets, the featured organization will generally receive a Master Digital Client Copy of the applicable PSA asset and a non-exclusive, perpetual, royalty-free license to use the completed PSA content for approved educational, informational, PR, website, social media, internal communications, investor communications, presentation, recruiting, stakeholder, and related non-commercial informational purposes.
Such usage must remain consistent with the educational, public-interest nature of the PSA campaign and may not imply unsupported claims, talent endorsement, network endorsement, or convert the PSA into a standalone commercial advertisement outside the PSA framework.
Upon request, WIP can provide curated prior PSA examples, representative case studies, sample formats, public-facing work, and sample reporting structures where appropriate.
Due to confidentiality, legal, PR, regulatory, and client-sensitivity considerations, WIP does not automatically provide raw client distribution reports, unredacted affidavits, proprietary distribution logs, or confidential campaign data from other campaigns without their written approvals.
All press releases, public announcements, social media posts, external messaging, or public references related to a WIP PSA campaign must be reviewed and approved in advance by WIP’s Media Department or designated agency representative.
This protects the PSA format, public-interest positioning, broadcast relationships, host / narrator considerations, talent restrictions, network and distributor sensitivities, featured organization brand integrity, regulatory accuracy, and consistency of public messaging.
Featured organizations should not issue public announcements suggesting guaranteed network placement, commercial endorsement, celebrity endorsement, or paid advertising unless such language has been approved by WIP in writing.
The Breakthroughs™ PSA process is designed to help meaningful public-interest stories move from concept to completed educational media campaign in a structured, collaborative, and compliance-conscious way.
Each campaign is built around a simple model:
Problem → Solution → Public Understanding → Action / Awareness
The featured organization is not treated as the subject of a commercial. Instead, the organization is positioned as the Provider of Solution within a broader public-interest story.
The goal is to help audiences understand:
• what problem exists
• why it matters
• what advancement or solution is emerging
• how that advancement may help people, communities, industries, or society
• what viewers should understand or consider next
The process begins when WIP identifies a topic, advancement, or organization that may be appropriate for a Breakthroughs™ PSA. Very few organizations are invited to participate. Usually less than 30 per year.
This may involve review of a selected organization’s public information, mission, technology, service, clinical or scientific relevance, social impact, public-interest value, visual storytelling potential, and audience relevance. But it always includes a teleconference interview.
An initial call or teleconference is scheduled to determine whether the subject is a fit, answer questions, and confirm whether the organization should proceed into the formal authorization and development process.
Once both sides agree that the project appears to be a fit, WIP provides a Production / Media Authorization.
The Authorization is the document that formally outlines the campaign framework and guarantees, including:
• featured topic
• featured organization
• general PSA format
• production and review process
• distribution framework
• usage rights
• participant responsibilities
• review / approval process / terms & policies
• relevant custom notes for the specific campaign
Upon receipt of the executed Production / Media Authorization, the PSA is placed into PR, Production, Post-Production, and Distribution schedules so the appropriate departments and partners can begin internal planning and coordination.
After authorization, the featured organization completes a Script Profile Questionnaire.
This questionnaire helps the writers and producers better understand:
• the organization’s mission
• the public-interest issue
• key facts and claims
• targeted audiences
• preferred messaging
• available assets
• on-camera representative options
• desired tone
• regulatory or claims sensitivities
• footage, photos, data, or examples available for use
The questionnaire is used by the writing and production team to develop the initial PSA direction and Review Script.
Estimated timing: 3–10 days, depending on the organization’s internal process.
The writing team develops the initial Review Script using:
• the Script Profile Questionnaire
• public information
• approved materials provided by the featured organization
• external research where appropriate
• WIP’s internal creative development process
• public-service and distribution suitability standards
The Review Script is designed to balance public understanding, credibility, emotional engagement, accuracy, and non-promotional PSA positioning.
Estimated timing: 7–15 days, depending on the complexity of the subject.
The initial Review Script is provided to the featured organization for review and feedback.
The featured organization may review for:
• factual accuracy
• brand comfort
• claims sensitivity
• regulatory language
• clinical, scientific, legal, or technical accuracy
• confidentiality concerns
• preferred wording
• visual direction
• audience alignment
After review, the writing team incorporates reasonable revisions and returns the script for final approval before production proceeds.
Estimated review timing: 3–10 days
Estimated revision timing: 2–3 days
Estimated final approval timing: 2–3 days
Following script approval, the production and media team begins preparing the PSA campaign.
This may include:
• visual and narrative development
• footage selection
• animation planning
• stock footage review
• product / facility / interview footage review
• narration planning
• music and sound design planning
• selection of digital distribution outlets
• creation of press materials
• development of social, digital, or topic-specific support materials
At this stage, WIP may request additional organization-approved information, short descriptive paragraphs, media assets, footage, images, logos, or supporting materials for use in press releases and media content.
Pre-production and production begin following script approval.
Depending on the campaign, this phase may include:
• remote interviews
• on-location filming, if included or separately scoped
• studio footage
• product or technology filming
• b-roll integration
• animation
• voiceover or narration scheduling
• visual asset development
• content capture and organization
Some campaigns can be produced using existing approved footage, interviews, animation, stock footage, remote interviews, studio narration, or supplied assets.
Other campaigns may require original filming or field production. Where special filming, custom production, travel, unique facility access, or expanded production services are requested or required, those items may be scoped separately unless already included in the applicable Authorization.
Estimated timing: 30–45 days, depending on assets, approvals, filming needs, talent availability, and campaign complexity.
Post-production includes editing, formatting, sound design, graphics, captions, finalization, and preparation of PSA deliverables. Emphasis is on credibility, accuracy and creating a “new breed” of PSA’s that are visually, intellectually and emotionally compelling, and not the status quo.
The featured organization typically receives a Review Edit for feedback before final distribution preparation.
Review is focused on factual accuracy, claims sensitivity, brand comfort, compliance, and material messaging concerns.
Estimated timing: approximately 30 days, depending on revision needs and production complexity.
Before distribution, PSA content undergoes a final Compliance Review.
This review is designed to help ensure alignment with:
• messaging accuracy
• regulatory considerations
• broadcast standards
• public-service positioning
• captioning and technical standards
• claims-sensitive language
• talent / narrator / rights considerations
• distribution partner expectations
For medical, healthcare, biotechnology, pharmaceutical, legal, financial, consumer safety, environmental, or otherwise regulated topics, the featured organization remains responsible for reviewing and approving claims, statements, clinical or scientific descriptions, product references, regulatory language, statistics, indications, outcomes, and other sensitive content related to its organization, products, services, technologies, or field of work.
Estimated timing: 1–2 weeks.
Following Compliance Review, PR rollout and distribution are scheduled across applicable broadcast, digital, PR, social, and targeted media platforms.
Distribution typically includes, depending on the campaign:
• national / cable PSA submission
• local station / affiliate submission
• newsbreak-style feature distribution
• digital distribution
• PR / newswire support
• topic-related digital outlets
• targeted professional or demographic outreach
• social media support
• website, landing page, or screening hub support
• partner or media-platform support where appropriate
Because PSA distribution is not purchased and scheduled in the same way as commercial advertising, placement decisions still remain subject to network, station, platform, outlet, inventory, timing, editorial, public-interest, and technical considerations unless otherwise pre-determined with individual networks based on our existing agreements.
After distribution has had sufficient time to mature, WIP may provide a Distribution Report where available and applicable.
A report may summarize:
• broadcast activity
• local station activity
• digital and social distribution
• PR / newswire visibility
• targeted outreach
• topic-related online placements
• available third-party reports
• estimated reach or impressions
• available airings, placements, or confirmations
• limitations in reporting where outlets do not provide full logs or affidavits
PSA reporting is typically a best-available fulfillment summary compiled from available third-party, partner, platform, affiliate, station, network, distributor, and industry reporting sources.
It should not be understood as a guaranteed census of every viewer, airing, impression, or placement.
The featured organization may be asked to provide:
• completed Script Profile Questionnaire
• approved organization description
• approved public-facing claims or facts
• logo and brand guidelines
• approved photos, video, graphics, animations, data, or product visuals
• internal review and approval
• relevant releases or permissions
• regulatory or legal guidance where needed
• available subject-matter experts or interview participants
• timely feedback during the review process
The featured organization remains responsible for ensuring that any supplied claims, statistics, footage, testimonials, patient/customer stories, proprietary materials, or third-party assets are accurate, authorized, and approved for use.
Depending on the campaign (as specified in the Production / Media Authorization) WIP and its partners provide:
• PSA concept development
• script development
• production coordination
• writing and editorial development
• post-production
• graphics and sound design
• narration / voiceover coordination
• compliance preparation
• captioning
• formatting
• delivery preparation
• uplink / distribution coordination
• PR / media support
• digital and targeted media planning
• broadcast/airtime
• campaign reporting where available
The specific deliverables and workflow are governed by the applicable Production / Media Authorization.
